When Is an AC Problem an Emergency?
Not every AC problem requires emergency service.
A system that makes a minor unusual noise may be able to wait for a scheduled inspection. A complete loss of cooling during extreme heat, significant water leakage, electrical problems, or a rapidly worsening system may require more immediate attention.
Emergency service can be appropriate when your air conditioner:
- Stops cooling completely
- Will not start
- Begins leaking significant water
- Trips a breaker repeatedly
- Produces burning or electrical smells
- Makes severe or unusual mechanical noises
- Has a frozen system with worsening symptoms
- Suddenly develops a major performance problem
- Creates conditions that may damage the property
If you are unsure whether a situation is urgent, explain the symptoms when contacting an HVAC professional.
